Back again with yet another blogpost while waiting for our flight to Sydey. Why not write one trying to kill time? After all, we have to wait almost five hours until departure ;-)
After a smooth crossing of Cook Strait with yet again beautiful weather (yeah, we know, boooooring ;-) we picked up our (third....) rental car and left for Richmond. When looking at the map we noticed a tourist drive with narrow roads and great views. Yep, that was exactly up our alley! The first lookout was just outside and above the harbour of Picton, where we also enjoyed our lunch, bathing in the sun.
Die route hebben we dus gereden The route travelled |
De haven van Picton Picton harbour |
Hoezo mooi uitzicht? How about a view like that? |
Once we arrived at Richmond it turned out that we actually had to look for a campsite to our liking. Our initial choice was all about seasonal work, so not really what we were looking for. The second one was a lot better, although the sites were a bit on the small side if you have a rather large tent....
want dan moet je je tent schuin neerzetten ;-) because then your only option is setting up under an angle ;-) |
The day thereafter (already January 13...) Edwin went away solo. I felt more like staying at the campsite and enjoy some quiet time. As on our way there Edwin had noticed some 'old iron'(aka rail track) that worked perfectly for both of us. He went off to 'explore'....only to return and fetch me. What was the case? This old iron led him to a heritage park and he knew I am very keen on that kind of museum as well. So, in the end we did have a day out together :-)
Ja, je ziet het goed, er staat o.a. een molen ;-) Yep, your eyes are not deceiving you, that is a windmill amongst these buildings ;-) |
En wat valt de secretaresse dan op?!? Juist, de typemachines ;-) And what does a secretary notice?!? Yep, the typewriters ;-) |
Een pittoresk oud kerkje, dat nog echt gebruikt wordt A charming little old church, still being used |
En over dat oud ijzer rijdt dus een dieseltreintje :-) And the old iron is used by a train :-) |
And we ended the day in a way that should not surprise you:
met een bierproeverij! with a beer tasting! |
And now the check in has opened, so we are gonna get (temporarily) rid of our luggage:-) Maybe we have enough time to post another blog while waiting in Sydney. Let's find out!
Tot de volgende keer,
Edwin en Monique
Cheers,
Edwin and Monique
